Web Site Hosting?

First, let's make sure you are clear on what web site hosting is. Three pieces are required to having and maintaining a web site. (That is if you don't have your own web server).

  An ISP (Internet Service Provider). This allows you to connect to the internet.

  A web hosting service.

  A mail server.

  A domain name.

Your ISP would like you to believe all of these are one and the same. In doing so, they will charge you $35 a month for your high speed connection, another $15 a month for the web hosting service, $5 a month for your e-Mail accounts, and $30 a year to renew your domain name. Let's see now, that's around $690 a year you will pay for you internet and to have a web site.

You can not do much about the $35 a month for internet access (Or is there?, We'll get into that latter), but you certainly can do something about the cost incurred for hosting a web site.

A while back I did a major search for an alternative web hosting company. The criteria I used was cost, reliability, customer service (I wanted to call at3:30 in the morning and actually talk to someone), and the viability of the company. I chose iPower.

The basic web hosting service supplied by iPower is about $50 per year and that includes one e-Mail account. A slightly more expensive package comes in at $95 per year. This includes 2500 e-Mail accounts and free domain registration every year. If you recommend iPower to 3 new customers per year you pay nothing for the year.

Now let's try this on for size. Instead of $690 per year, of which $420 a year is you high-speed internet, you only pay $515 per year.

Believe it or not there's some logic behind this. Software prices have stayed pretty much the same (if not increased), but computer prices are dropping and have been over the last few years. I feel it's important that someone qualified assist in setting up these computers and help maintain them, particularly given how much businesses and individuals rely on the data inside those units now-a-days.

Our competitors, many with just a fraction of the experience and history of quality work that we have, are already charging thirty to sixty dollars more per hour than we currently do, yet they choose to either not perform certain tasks, or when they do they end up far exceeding the cost of the computer itself. Currently we have a flat rate of $85.00 per hour for all types of services. From now until the end of the year, I will be dropping that to $80.00 per hour and at the same time, cutting in half certain services. Please refer to the table below:

For all our existing customers, I would like to give them an opportunity to get some tasks completed that they have been putting off before the end of the year. For new customers, it is an opportunity to see for themselves what ADSY Technologies can bring to the table.

Note: All trips to a customer site that is more than 10 miles and less than 50 miles from Ellsworth, Wisconsin will be charged a flat $25.00 "trip charge", to cover the cost of fuel. Trips farther that 50 miles will be charges $.40 per mile round trip plus $40.00 per hour travel time.
